Mike Elliott is a member of four Committees of State Parliament:. 

  • Environment, Resources and Development Standing Committee;

  • Occupational Safety, Rehabilitation and Compensation Committee;

  • Outsourcing of State Government Services Select Committee;

  • Statutory Officers Committee. 

He has also been involved in parliamentary committees dealing with small retailer issues, pastoral lands, Aboriginal affairs, child protection, adoption, statutory authorities and the control and illicit use of drugs of dependence.

 

MIKE'S LIFE

Mike Elliott has been the Parliamentary Leader of the Australian Democrats in South Australia, since 1993.

He has been a member of South Australia's Upper House since 1985. Mike holds a science degree from the University of Adelaide, with majors in botany and zoology and a Graduate Diploma in Teaching.

Mr Elliott grew up in Mount Gambier, in SA's south east and was a teacher for nine years before entering Parliament.  He taught in several country schools, including Whyalla, Swan Reach and Renmark.   He lives in the Mitcham Hills with his wife Belinda, and children Amy, Stuart and Jane.
