BROWNHILL DEVELOPMENT

In reply to Hon. M.J. ELLIOTT (6 August).
  The Hon. DIANA LAIDLAW:
 1. A time frame is not stipulated under the Development Act 1993, during which I am required to form an opinion as to whether a development or project warrants Major Development Status. I am required to determine whether it is appropriate or necessary for the proper assessment of the development, or project, and whether it is of major environmental, social or economic importance.
The specific factors that I could take into account are as follows:

 3. Each development/proposal is given consideration on a ėcase by case' basis. Many factors influenced my decision about whether to declare ėMajor Development' status.
