DEMOCRATS RELEASE DEVELOPMENT PLATFORM
The introduction of a Hills Face Zone Act is a central part of the Australian Democrats’ Urban Development Platform, released today (see attached 2 pages).
"The Australian Democrats would protect the Hills Face Zone not only for its aesthetic and recreational features, but also because it protects the diminishing flora and fauna of the Adelaide Hills," says leader Mike Elliott.
"We promise to do this through a Hills Face Zone Act that negotiates the conflicts that occur on the urban/rural fringe.
"Stopping urban consolidation north and south of the city as well as into the Hills is a major priority within our development platform.
"The Democrats would invest in better public transport and infrastructure to create high quality metropolitan housing hubs as the preferred form of Urban Consolidation.
"We would also foster the rehabilitation of urban creeks and urban greenspace for both recreational and environmental purposes."
